Meet the author, Alan Isherwood.

Alan has worked as a teacher all over Australia, from remote First Nations communities in North East Arnhem Land and Central Desert to Cape York, Torres Strait, and Guadalcanal. Alan and his wife, Rose, are lovers of exploration, and they have also spent time in China, the USA, Denmark, Central Switzerland, and the UK. When not writing, Alan enjoys swimming, gardening, cooking, music, and entertaining friends and family at his home in Atherton, QLD.

Isherwood’s Australia (2023) is an outstanding example of how one man’s individual journey, combined with a rich family tradition of sharing stories, can unite generations in a stunningly relatable and compelling way. Alan has created an intricate, emotionally sophisticated portrayal of the ensemble cast - his extended family, childhood friends, and the tales of 20th Century Australia and beyond.

"During my continued work with Bowerbird Publishing, the professionalism, goal-setting processes, and communication were exemplary. During the publishing process, I felt encouraged and supported, especially in preserving my voice and navigating the editing of First Nations orthography. My personal experience of publishing with Crystal was that she is consistently engaging and optimistic. Crystal delivered on all commitments and assurances on time. I would strongly recommend publishing with Crystal at Bowerbird Publishing." Alan Isherwood

Meet the author, Bec Wright.

For over thirty years, she has been an educator specialising in those with additional needs. When not relishing in my grandmother duties, she embraces life to the fullest—whether strumming the bass guitar in the school band, diving into the water for a swim, performing on stage, dancing, or even African drumming.

The Teacher Who Lost Her Smile (2024) is a delightful read that celebrates the dedication and resilience of educators. It is a testament to the profound connections forged in the classroom and the enduring power of a teacher's smile.

"Crystal is amazing. I highly recommend her and wouldn't have anyone else publish my books. She was super supportive and has eased my nerves multiple times. Being an author herself gives her the advantage of knowing first-hand what it feels like." Bec Wright

Meet the author, B Kay Mackle.

Living in Mackay, QLD, Kay is in a long-lasting, loving relationship. She is a mother of two adult boys and a grandmother to four grandsons—a family for which she is thankful. She has many friends for whom she is grateful for their guidance. Kay is an Energy Healer. She has been of service since her Divine Intervention in 2011. She has a unique way of writing and positively sharing her experiences to help others achieve their goals and dreams.

The Broken Branch Grows (2024) is a must-read for anyone on self-discovery, spiritual growth, and healing. It is a book to be savoured and returned to again and again with themes of love, faith, kindness, and intuitive energy healing.

The Power of Three: Darkness to Light (2024), the first book in B Kay Mackle's transformative series, is a heartwarming story that promotes positive change and self-belief. Through the journey of the three colour-changing veiled chameleons, Kay weaves a narrative that encourages readers to embrace hope, confidence, faith, and trust, demonstrating that anything is possible.

The Purpose of Three: Healing Plants (2025) shows that together, we can return to mix and mingle with nature, not only with single elements but with companion planting and companionship to benefit all that lives and grows.

Time to Help Bundy Blue (2024) is an informative story that gives a brief example of mood swings and the feelings that go with them. Thoughts can change regularly, and overthinking creates changes in the mind and body. Bundy Blue sees and feels in a colourful range. This is a heartfelt story with a kind word of encouragement to bring happiness to mind.

Master Forest Wizard (2024) is an evocative children’s book that intertwines fantasy with a crucial message about environmental conservation. Set in the lush Daintree Rainforest of North Queensland, Australia, the story introduces us to a remarkable character: the Master Forest Wizard, a regal Southern Cassowary whose mission is to protect the forest and its inhabitants.

In The Grey Wolf (2025), B Kay Mackle offers an intimate look into the struggles of the mind, presenting the everyday challenges of living with mental health issues.

"Bowerbird Publishing gave me a lifeline and practical tools with clear communication to finally finish my novel, TickleTouch. Struggling with dyslexia, I worked on this project for 30 years, and within one year of working with Crystal, I was published. She set me realistic goals and gave me an understanding of editing, cover and internal book design, printing, and distribution. Bowerbird Publishing exceeded my expectations, delivering on all promises and commitments. I have embraced being an author and can see my literacy skills improving. Meet the author, Dr Kathrine Grover.

I was born a warrior. My father taught me the meaning of honour and integrity. Life taught me to be a daughter, a mom, a sister, a grandmother and a nurse/midwife. The profession of nursing taught me to value and protect life. Adversity taught me to stand tall, be strong and protect those under my care. I am my father’s daughter. The truth is important to me. Justice is important to me. I was born to two middle-class people who were always most at home in the Australian bush. I lived a sheltered, itinerant life, moving from town to town, across states, for my father’s work. Over the course of my school life, I attended thirteen different schools—an education in how to fit in. My mother was a nurse. In 1975, I followed in her footsteps to become a Registered Nurse and a Midwife. I attained two further degrees and a PhD. My career led me to management, as leading is as innate as breathing. What is not innate is failing to report unexpected and adverse patient outcomes. My demand for transparency was not only a career stopper, but it also put me in the sights of the media to be labelled a whistleblower nurse. I am not a whistleblower but a strong patient advocate who will protect those under my care from harm. My professional and personal life is forever changed because I chose to tell the truth. Adverse patient outcomes were made public, and clinical governance was implemented—a high price to pay for justice in healthcare.

In Nurse Blood (2025), Kathrine Maree Grover offers a poignant and unflinching look into her 50-year career as a nurse and midwife. This compelling memoir sheds light on the dual nature of the nursing profession: a vocation filled with camaraderie and deep fulfilment, yet equally marked by relentless challenges and systemic flaws.

Grover's journey is both a celebration of the noble aspects of nursing and a candid exposé of its darker side. She does not shy away from discussing the harsh realities that many in her profession face—depression, PTSD, bullying, harassment, and, tragically, suicidal ideation. The book's title, ‘Nurse Blood,’ evokes the sacrifices and emotional toll experienced by those dedicated to caring for others.

Through personal anecdotes and reflections, Grover reveals how the ethos of 'doing the right thing' has guided her throughout her career, even when it meant facing significant personal and professional hurdles. Her moral compass, described by her daughter as unwaveringly true, has driven her to advocate for patient safety and stand against injustices within the healthcare system.

Nurse Blood is not just a memoir but a clarion call to the public to recognise and appreciate the silent battles nurses fight daily. Grover hopes her book will serve as a vital resource for students in the social sciences, offering them a forewarning of the potential pitfalls in their future careers and equipping them with the knowledge to navigate these challenges.

Ultimately, Kathrine Maree Grover's story is about leaving a legacy. It is a footprint in the future, echoing the voices of countless nurses who have come before and will come after. Nurse Blood is a testament to resilience, moral integrity, and the enduring impact one person can have in the field of nursing and beyond.

This tale weaves together passion, camaraderie, and the sheer joy of the ride, echoing the sentiments of Australian author and journalist Boris Mihailovic: “Where are the great stories? Where are the passionate tales of adversity and camaraderie of a two-wheeled life being lived to the full? Where is the laughter? Where is the adventure?” Motorcycle Musing offers a vivid reply, reminding readers that the most unforgettable journeys are those that deviate from the script.

With a blend of reality and imagination, the narrative invites readers to discern truth from fiction. Through the lens of a motorcyclist, muse, scientist, lover of life, and rural generalist, the author presents a rich tapestry of experiences, all while revelling in the enchantment of riding.
